South Berwick Town Councilor David Burke has resigned from the town council. Burke had his letter of resignation presented during last nights council meeting, although Burke was not in attendance. Burke, who is also an independent candidate for Maine House District 146, was arrested by Eliot police last month after he entered the home of a woman who had a restraining order against him and has since been arraigned on a charge of domestic violence burglary. The council voted to accept his resignation last night and will hold a meeting on October 16^th to work out a date for a special election to fill that vacated seat.
