The Dover School Board met on Monday night where a contentious issue was raised; ending football at the High School. Board member Paul Butler raised the issue, saying that in his opinion, to avoid potential lawsuits due to concussions of players, the board should do away with the sport. Butler, a former physician, talked about the long term effects to the brain and pointed to the design of the helmets that players wear as being part of the problem. Butler acknowledged that he probably will nott make any new friends with the proposal but felt that it was the moral and ethical thing to do.
