Dover’s New Tax Increase is 40 Cents

Dovers Fiscal Year 2013 certified tax rate has been calculated by the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration, and it calls for a 1.6 percent increase over the prior year, which calculates out to a 40-cent increase from last year. The cities new tax rate comes in at $25.52, after last years $25.12.  City Manager Michael Joyal said this rate was expected
because when the City Council adopted the budget, there were some changes made to assessment values in the city and the revenue that was provided by the state. He says the rate recognizes the efforts the council made by putting together a balanced budget within tax cap.
Last year’s rate called for a $1.37 or 5.8 percent increase, much higher than this year.
