Grassie deemed eligible to run for Rochester District Seat
After facing questions over which home was her main residence, the Ballot Law Commission has voted to allow Rep. Anne Grassie to run for re-election in Ward 4 in November. Grassie residence status was challenged by Rep. Cliff Newton, who filed a complaint questioning whether Grassie lives in district 4, as by law you must live in the district that you represent. During Grassie’s testimony, she explained that she and her husband own two homes, one on Central Avenue, which is listed as her official residence and is in Ward 6, and one on Brock Street which is in District 4. Grassie said they will be moving into the Brock Street home fulltime once renovations are completed. The five-member Ballot Law Commission unanimously voted to not disqualify her as a candidate.
