The Mill Pond Center for the Arts has been put up for sale, that according to The Seacoast Repertory Theatre Artistic Director, Craig Faulkner. The Portsmouth-based theater group bought that historic building for $570,000 in 2009 and believed that the land would pay for itself, considering it also included three apartment units on site. However, a recent move by the Planning Board in Durham sent notice that rental rights on that property had been cancelled. That along with the towns decision to only allow for four indoor and outdoor events during a calendar year, and being taxed as a for-profit group, made it financially impossible for the Theatre group to continue at that location.
