Rochester School Committee Studies Later Start Times
Faculty and officials from Rochester Middle School, Spaulding High School and the Rochester School Board discussed pushing back school start times in an effort to have more alert students who perform better. The Rochester School Board formed a starting time committee in September to study the effects of having a later start time for students, and during a round table discussion last night, various teachers and school officials seemed to warm to the idea of starting the school day later. Although it was just an informational discussion, the new 8 member committee will meet intermittently over the next few months, with sessions scheduled for Nov. 5 and on Nov. 13.
