Thursday evening, the USCG in New Castle received a call from a citizen who reporting that a man had jumped into the waters of the Piscatequa River from shore and was attempting to swim across the river. The Coast Guard notified all emergency responders in the area which including the New Hampshire State Police- Marine Patrol, Portsmouth Fire and Police and Kittery ME police.The Marine Patrol identified the swimmer as 22 year old Morgan Moreau. Moreau stated that he left work near the river in Portsmouth and had decided to try to swim across the river. After going a short distance, he became exhausted due to the strong current and the fact that he was fully clothed.
