Don't call it a comeback! PCA Jr High rallies late to beat Coop Middle Schhol



The Portsmouth Christian Academy Junior High Softball team remained unbeaten with two runs in the 7th inning to top the 8th grade Coop Middle school team 5-4. PCA's Hannah Daly started the rally with a single, stole second and scored on Becky Heidt's RBI ground out. Taylor Mason gave the Eagles the lead by scoring on a passed ball and PCA ran their winning streak to 20 games.

    Ashley Vining pitched a complete game for the win striking out 5 and made several outstanding defensive plays, including the last play of the game to strand the winning run on base. Abby Turcotte turned the game around by catching a line drive down the third base line and doubling the runner off third in the 5th inning. Dani Brashear made a diving catch to save a run and Cy Karnes played outstanding defense at first base.

    The offense was lead by Amelia Sheedy with three hits, raising her team leading average to a scorching .824. Ashley Vining, .615 avg, contributed a single and Taylor Mason scored two runs. The undefeated PCA junior high softball team will play at Hampton Falls on Monday and attempt to keep the winning streak going. Coach Mike Vining was very pleased with the teams come from behind victory and outstanding defense throughout the entire game.

Becky Heidt had the game's key RBI in PCA's 7th inning come from behind rally Thursday at Cooperative Middle School. PCA won 5-4 and raised their season record to 8-0.
