Kittery Police have charged a 55-year old Portsmouth woman with stealing more than 29-thousand dollars from local businesses she kept the books for. In May Carl’s Meat Market and Golden Harvest, reported that they suspected an employee/bookeeper of theft of minimal amount of money. Investigators began reviewing the case and auditing account records and learned that the theft was in excess of $29,000 dollars. The money was stolen over a 3 month period beginning in February. The bookkeeper, Deborah Sterry was charged with Theft by Unauthorized Taking, and has a court appearance in September.
