People who have lost someone to suicide and those just looking to learn how they can help will gather at a church in Portsmouth tonight, to say “Yes to Life”. The Seacoast Suicide Prevention Coalition will hold panel and small group discussion. Portsmouth Police Chaplain, Bob Jon, says there are many dynamics at work that bring a person to the point of taking one’s own life: economic setbacks, job loss, substance abuse, and mental health issues among them. The gathering at 6:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Portsmouth includes a panel discussion, a time for questions and answers, and then the meeting will break into small groups to give people a chance to share their stories if they choose.
