LGC to Begin Returning Monies

Dover City Manager, Michael Joyal, believes that the city of Dover will receive about $280,000 from the Local Government Center, now that the non-profit has been ordered to refund more than $50 million to cities and towns in the Granite State. Judicatory hearings have determined the LGC violated state law by improperly collecting and retaining surplus funds for health and property liability funds it maintained for state and local employees and retirees. The LGC has admitted to taking one percent of health premiums from Dover to begin funding for a workers' compensation program. The city is in a holding pattern, waiting to hear the official amount of money it will get back. Once returned, the city council will be tasked with what to do with it.
