New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte made a stop in Exeter on Wednesday, paying a visit to Cobham Sensor Systems and Microwave Components, where she urged about 100 workers to speak out against automatic sequestration cuts to the nation's military budget. Ayotte told workers at Cobham that the proposed cuts are across the board and everything will be cut. According to Ayotte, around 3,600 New Hampshire defense jobs could be lost if the pending defense cuts go through. She also noted that in an attempt to reduce the national debt spending on national defense, automatic cuts of about $500 billion will start in five months’ time and that the sequestration reductions would be in addition to $487 billion in already-planned Pentagon cuts. Cobham manufactures radar system components for radar systems used in ships, submarines and aircrafts, and is currently undergoing a 105,000-square-foot expansion to their manufacturing facility.
