Heated Discussion at Eliot Selectman Meeting

The conversation turned a bit heated during Thursday evenings Elliot town of Selectman meeting, when the Budget Committee demanded financial disclosure statements from the Sewer Committee, the Business Committee and town employees who are involved in the proposed TIF-funded sewer project. The request seemed to anger the selectmen, who said that it was not the business of any of the town’s committees except the Board of Selectmen to be concerned with financial disclosures. Budget Committee member Robert Pomerleau told selectmen that the request for financial disclosures was not an accusation, but that it was his belief that if you are voting for something, the public has a right to know. The demand was part of 18 questions regarding the proposed sewer project submitted by the Budget Committee last month to the chairman of the Sewer Committee, Michael Dupuis.
