An online petition is being circulated calling for the ouster of Rochester Planning Director Kenn Ortmann. The petition began circulating on Thursday by state Representative and Rochester resident Fred Leonard after Ortmann’s comments regarding Rochester joining the Granite State Future project, known as the Sustainable Communities Initiative. Dozens of citizens spoke out against that idea at the City Council meeting, and Ortmann responded later saying there are always issues of balance between individual rights and freedoms and the rights and freedoms of the community as a whole. Leonard said that Ortmann may threaten to undermine residents’ liberties and property rights. As of last night, around 55 people had signed that online petition.
