Somersworth Council Votes on Bond to Pay for Downtown Improvements
Reporter: Dave Andreesen Date: September 3, 2012
The Somersworth City Council will vote Tuesday night on issuing a bond to pay for downtown infrastructure improvements and for the replacement of several heating and air conditioning units at city schools. The city would borrow up to three million dollars to upgrade drainage, water, and sewer systems on High and Market Street, as well as purchasing five new HVAC units for the school department. It’s also expected that Councilor Matt Durkee will formally resign his position as Ward 5 councilor. Still in his first year on the Council, Durkee submitted a resignation letter last week to the City Clerk because he will be moving out of the city next month. Tuesday's meeting starts at Somersworth City Hall at 7 pm.
