New Transit Options for Military and Civilian Workers at Shipyard, Pease

Reporter: Dave Andreesen
Date: September 5, 2012

The Federal Transit Administration joined the US Navy and local officials today in Kittery to announce the expansion of express bus service to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and Pease International Tradeport. As the Seacoasts largest employment centers, the grants, which total nearly 4 million dollars, will greatly improve access to transportation for veterans and military families. COAST bus service is receiving 2.6 million dollars to increase the frequency of regional bus routes to every 30 minutes, and an additional 640 thousand dollars for the newly expanded Clipper Connection commuter bus service. US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said that today’s announcement will help ensure that the people of Maine and New Hampshire who proudly serve in our armed forces have better access to quality and convenient transportation.
