Vote of No Confidence for Police Chief in Kittery

Kittery Town Manager Robert Markel received information through a letter passed to him by Officer Robert Byrnes, president of the patrolman's union, which showed that The Kittery police patrolman's union has taken a vote of no confidence in Police Chief Paul Callaghan. That vote came up during last night’s Town Council meeting. Markel and Callaghan both have said there have been three or four grievances filed in the past several months, and all but one have been mediated successfully. Chief Callaghan was named as the new police chief in Kittery on Jan. 1st replacing longtime Chief Edward Strong. Callaghan said that he was disappointed by the vote.
