The Berwick Board of Selectmen is holding two executive sessions this week as they quickly look for a new town manager. Interim Town Manager Jim McMahon announced on Monday that he’ll be resigning his position next Monday, which leaves the town without an administrator. McMahon said his decision to leave comes after receiving another Freedom of Access Act request from the attorney of Deputy Fire Chief Bruce Plante, one that he believes will tie up much of his time over something that happened before his tenure. He also said when he offered his services on an interim basis he didn’t want to engage in any political conflicts. Plante is also suing the town after his first request for emails that Selectman Bart Haley received about fire department complaints went unanswered. The Council hopes that at Thursday's meeting they will identify a candidate who can take over as full-time town manager on Monday.
