Independent Police Review Gets Green Light in Kittery
Kittery Town Manager Robert Markel has succumbed to the pressure and will now bring in an independent consultant to review complaints made by Kittery police officers about Police Chief Paul Callahan. Last week, Markel received a letter that stated a vote of no confidence was taken against Chief Callahan, which prompted Markel to attempt to set up meetings with those officers that wanted to speak about their issues but no one scheduled a meeting. Markel is now expected to hear back from Municipal Resources Incorporated of Meredith with a proposal to perform that review. Both Chief Callahan and Teamsters Union Local 340 business agent Sylvia Hebert were said to be pleased with Markel’s decision.
