The Somersworth City Council was back in session last night, taking up issues that were tabled during their last session. At last night’s meeting, the council decided to increase appropriations for infrastructure improvements. The council voted to raise the original $2,230,000 designated for the reconstruction of the road and sidewalks on a portion of High and Market streets to $4,000,000. Include the HVAC replacement project and the estimated total now stands at $4,770,000. The city is dealing with degrading sewer and water pipes in that area, some of which are nearly 130 years old, so the decision to up the project dollars was made so that the city could do that job thoroughly.
