The first meeting of the Berwick Downtown Vision Committee will be held Wednesday night. The town’s Economic Development Committee has chartered this citizen-drive work group to come up with a plan for the downtown which includes the eventual development of the vacant Prime Tanning property. Prime Tanning closed their doors back in 2007, and the building has sat idle because it’s tied up in bankruptcy court. Some of the ideas being looked at are knocking the old tannery down and developing a new town center to include shops, businesses, a new fire station, and creating new traffic patterns. The first idea on the group’s website is a new directional traffic pattern that includes a traffic circle just over the Berwick/Somersworth bridge. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm in the Town Hall Meeting room.
