A Joint Fiscal meeting has been scheduled in Dover for the City Council and the School Board to discuss the Fiscal Year 2012 Closeout budget and how the School board used unencumbered appropriations in May. At that time, the School Board found that they had a surplus of around $600,000 remaining from their budget, due to savings they say came from utilities and other costs. That money was spent on technology and on safety issues. In a recently written opinion piece, City Councilor Michael Crago said that while he believes the money was spent with good intentions, but the act was done in deceit. The Joint Fiscal meeting will take place Monday at 7pm at the McConnell Center.
