The Eliot Board of Selectman has given their approval to start discussions with two vendors for a solar energy project in town. The plan would see the installation of solar panels on the roof of the Department of Public Works and also on the towns transfer station buildings, to provide power to those municipal buildings. The town Energy Commission says the town would use those panels for six years free of charge and at that time would determine if they want to go ahead with the purchase of the panels.
