York Firefighters Appear in Pro Gay Marriage TV Ad
Four York volunteer firemen will be featured in a tv ad in support of the marriage equality initiative on the Nov. 6 ballot. Andrew Shea, Eric Humphrey, Dave Lorandeau and Ryan Michel, who is gay, all appear in the new tv spot. The genesis for the ad came from Matt McTighe, also a volunteer York firefighter who is gay and is the campaign director of Mainers United for Marriage. On November 6th, Maine residents will vote on Question 1 to decide whether they want to pass a law giving gays and lesbians the right to marry in the state. If it passes, Maine will be the first state in the nation in which gay marriage has been approved by voters. Recent polls indicate 53 percent of voters are in favor, 43 percent are opposed, while 4 percent undecided.
