Ving Tech Corporation of Biddeford has been awarded a $10 million contract to build crew-served weapons fire control systems. US Senator Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Armed Service Committee and the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee announced that contract on Thursday. Collins said that Ving Tech beat out several other bidders, which she believes shows how talented the states workforce is. Ving Tech also builds parts of the Common Remotely Operated Weapons systems, which is a remote gun system that allows soldiers to conduct surveillance and fire weapons from inside a vehicle, without being exposed to enemy fire.
