Portsmouth City Council to talk parking again tonight
The Portsmouth City Council will be in session tonight where they are expected to revisit the plan for tiered parking rates in the city and get feedback on that plan from residents. The new plan would set the parking rate at $1.50 per hour for 159 metered spaces on high-occupancy streets in the downtown area and $1 per hour for 623 metered spaces on less-frequented streets. This parking proposal comes less than a month after the council passed a parking omnibus that includes an increase of all two-hour time limits for on-street parking to three hours and implementation of a first-hour-free program in the High-Hanover parking garage. Tonights meeting starts at 7pm in City Hall.
