The University of New Hampshire was without power for a time on Thursday. PSNH spokesman Martin Murray said that they believe an animal of some kind caused an equipment malfunction at a Durham substation knocking out power to the entire campus. However that outage also affected customers in Newfields, Epping, Brentwood, Durham, Lee and Newmarket. Murray said that a total of around 4,800 PSNH customers were initially affected, although the outage for most customers was only for about 10 minutes. All university operations did continue however and power was restored to all by before 1 pm.
