Dover firefighters were called out to a home on Gulf Road Sunday morning, where an apparently a birds nest is to blame for a fire that ignited in a propane fireplace insert. Firefighters arrived on scene at around 10:30, and according to Fire Chief Richard Driscoll firefighters were able to knock down the fire quickly. Driscoll says now that cooler weather is here, residents need to be aware of potential buildup of debris in their heating systems, which could cause a fire. He said this time of the year, that it is a good idea to have wood stoves and chimneys checked by professionals and noted that the fire department can also conduct chimney inspections.
