Rochester Fire and Police were called to the site of a single vehicle accident at around 8:30 morning on Washington Street, where the driver eventually had to be cut out of that vehicle before being taken to Frisbie Memorial.
Twenty six year old Lisa Oliva of Barrington lost control of her vehicle and collided with a raised section of a ditch on the side of the road. Rochester Fire Captain Mark Avery said the driver was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The police investigation of the accident revealed Oliva was texting while driving, and she was issued a citation. The Rochester Police remind all drivers that texting while operating a motor vehicle is a violation of state law.
