2012 Congressional Law Enforcement Awards Handed Out
The 2012 Congressional Law Enforcement Awards were given out last night in Concord at the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training facility and among those recognized were former Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney. Maloney was posthumously awarded an Above and Beyond the Call of Duty award and Career Service Award for making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Maloney was killed during a drug raid in Greenland by Cullen Mutrie on April 12. His widow and family received a standing ovation as they picked up his award, recognizing the sacrifice that they have made. Another of the 18 officers who received the Above and Beyond the Call of Duty award last night included State Trooper Peter Gilbert, who grabbed a suicidal man and prevented him from jumping from the Piscataqua River Bridge on I-95 back in April. Among the dignitaries in attendance were U.S. Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Kelly Ayotte, and Congressmen Charles Bass and Frank Guinta.
