Portsmouth School Board Talks Concussions in Sports
The topic of concussions suffered during high school sports events was brought up last night during the Portsmouth School Board Meeting. Board member Kent LaPage wants the board to send a resolution to the NH School Board Association about taking action to reduce injuries in sports such as hockey and football. He believes a resolution should be drafted to find ways to mitigate those injuries with help from the NH Interscholastic Athletic Association. Some on the board were not sure about drafting a resolution but did agree that a discussion should be held on the districts policies on how to handle such injuries on a local level.
