Candidates for New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District seat sparred over stimulus funding, Medicare and foreign policy during a televised debate just four weeks before the election. The race is a rematch between Republican U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta and Democrat Carol Shea-Porter, who previously held the seat for two terms.
Guinta also criticized his opponent for having backed the federal stimulus program, which he calls a failure. Shea-Porter pointed out that Guinta was happy enough to accept stimulus money for the Manchester airport when he served as mayor there. And she said unemployment would have been even higher without the program.
