Kittery Town Council Discusses Memorial Bridge Illumination

The idea to add led lights to the new Memorial Bridge was met with a tepid response from the Kittery Town Council during last nights Council Meeting. That proposal calls for $60 to $80 thousand dollars to be raised privately to put the plan into effect for the first five years, but after that the cities of Portsmouth and Kittery would be responsible for the operating costs, which could see the town of Kittery shelling out $400 to $500 per year. Vice Chairman of the Kittery Council George Dow was in favor of the idea, saying money could be set aside through the Capital Improvement Program. In the end, Town Manager Robert Markel was instructed to gather the terms of that proposal before the proposal will move forward.
