According to the owner and CEO of Pain Care LLC, some of the facilities patients are experiencing meningitis symptoms and one person has been hospitalized as a result, even as the state still contends that no cases in the state have been reported. Michael O’Connell said Wednesday that cultures from several of those patients have been sent to University of Massachusetts for further testing. He says the results of these tests won’t be known for one to two weeks. On Tuesday the State added the Pain Care location in Newington to the list that already included the Pain Care locations in Somersworth and Merrimack as locations that had received the tainted steroid, said to be the cause for the outbreak. As of Wednesday, Pain Care says they have been in touch with 700 of the almost 750 patients who received that steroid and hopes to contact the rest on Thursday.
