A new WMUR Granite State Poll shows Republican U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta leading Democratic challenger Carol Shea-Porter by 7 points, 40 to 33 percent in that 1st Congressional District race, which is a major flip from last week when Shea-Porter led by 11 points. In the 2nd Congressional District the race is basically a push, with Democrat Annie Kuster holding a 3-point lead over Republican U.S. Rep. Charlie Bass, 35 to 32 percent, well within the margin of error. The poll also shows a close contest in the Governor’s race with Republican Ovide Lamontagne leading Democrat Maggie Hassan, 34 to 30 percent. Hassan picked up the endorsement of the Professional Firefighters Union of New Hampshire on Thursday.
