Kittery Woman Settles with Town on Harassment Suit
A former Kittery police department secretary has settled her sexual harassment lawsuit against the town for $75,000. Christiane McAllister filed suit in January, stating she was sexually harassed by police Lt. Russell French and then was wrongfully fired by former Town Manager Jonathan Carter after she complained. As part of that settlement, all parties have agreed not to comment on the agreement but did draft a joint statement which stated that McAllister releases the town, including Carter and French, from any and all claims against them by her while the town must provide a letter to McAllister that states her dates of employment and her position as administrative assistant to former Police Chief Edward Strong.
