Parking Garage to be discussed in Portsmouth Next Week
The recent recommendations made by the Portsmouth Blue Ribbon Parking Garage Site Selection Committee will be discussed Monday during a work session with the City Council. The committee will present their final report to councilors, a report that was released earlier this week and showed that the city needs parking now, or they expect a shortfall of 300 public spaces when the peak hours arrive next summer. The committee has tapped the Worth lot as its priority site for the city’s next parking structure, which would change that 110 space lot into a 600 space parking structure. The plan calls for including property currently controlled by Coldwell Banker and Cabot House Furniture and if the council agrees with the Worth lot city officials would then begin negotiations with those property owners.
