First Vote Expected in Rollinsford Withdrawal Plan

The Rollinsford Withdrawal Committee is expected to vote on a partner school district during a public session Tuesday evening. Earlier this month, the Rollinsford School District voted it was both feasible and suitable for the district to withdraw from Somersworth, which would allow them to choose a new partner district or to remain with SAU 56. After a vote, the next step for the Withdrawal Committee would be to submit their plan to the New Hampshire Department of Education by Nov. 2 explaining how the new agreement would work. The Department of Education would then approve, decline, or amend that new plan. If the decision is passed, a final vote by Rollinsford residents would take place in March and based on a positive outcome, an official contract would then be drawn up. SAU 56 says they would expect to lose approximately $1.5 million if Rollinsford leaves. The meeting on Tuesday gets underway at 7pm.
