A large number of thefts from unlocked vehicles in recent weeks in a variety of communities have led the Portsmouth Police department to coordinate with other area departments to try and track down the perpetrators. Car thefts have been on the rise as of late in Portsmouth, Hampton, York, and South Berwick with thieves nabbing everything they can from GPS systems to loose change. While Police in Portsmouth don’t have evidence to tie those crimes together, they do believe consolidating resources from various area police departments will help to solve those crimes in a shorter amount of time. Police are reminding residents to lock their car doors when exiting their vehicles and if anyone has any information into the crimes, they can leave their information with Seacoast Crimestoppers at 431-1199.
