An investigation by the Department of Labor has found violations stemming from a failure to pay overtime pay to five Strafford County Sherriff Officers involved with the transport of federal inmates. They are now ordering Strafford County to pay over $4,800 in back pay wages to the officers. Strafford County changed its overtime policy back in September of 2010, in relation to the way it pays for special details including federal prisoner transfers. The Labor Department found two months back in 2010 when the county had not been in compliance and they say that back pay must be paid out.
