Portable toilets have now replaced the bathrooms at North Hampton State Park. The bathrooms were closed because of constant breakdowns and the work required to keep them open. A State Parks and Recreation Department supervisor says the toilets were antiquated, and the combination of hot weather and a popular nearby restaurant overloaded their capacity. The closure is in effect for the rest of the season. Parks officials are talking with Hampton about the possibility of tying the restroom facilities into the town’s wastewater system.
