A man and his son were struck by a motorist in a crosswalk in the town of Rye last night. According to police, the accident happened around 7:30 last evening near the Rye General Store and it resulted in five people being taken to area hospitals, all with minor non-life threatening injuries. The accident caused a chain reaction along Ocean Blvd. involving a total of three vehicles. The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident. The man was attempting to cross the street with his 7-year old son and 12 year old daughter at the time of the collision.
